Jo + Nikhil | Chateau Montelena Winery Proposal | California Wedding Photographer
Nikhil and Jo had been doing long distance for a while before this day. And I mean a WHILE. Six years. And this wasn’t an east-coast-west-coast relationship either. This was a Toronto-Australia long distance relationship. Suffice to say, they were more than ready to be together. Before they did that though, Nikhil wanted to make the proposal special.
He reached out to me close to eight months before popping the question. He knew exactly what he wanted. He deliberately chose the date because of its meaning to him and Jo and simply asked that I show up and capture it. The location was an obvious draw, but it was the excitement and detail with which Nikhil was planning the proposal that completely drew me in.
I had done a couple shoots in Napa Valley and absolutely loved the whole area. It’s quiet, peaceful, has lots of wonderful places to eat, and of course, lots of wine (although I don’t drink so I can’t speak to how great it is, but they say it’s some of the best lol). I feel like the Chateau Montelena Winery captures Napa wonderfully - in all it’s beauty and elegance. Several places here are so gorgeous our jaws dropped. You’ll see it in the gallery.
After Nikhil popped the question, we ended up going back to their beautiful hotel to take more pictures - the Alila Napa Valley. All in all, it was a perfect day. I feel like I know Nikhil and Jo so well just from the short time we hung out. These are two of the kindest, smartest, most humble people you can meet. I am genuinely excited to see what is in store for their marriage.
Hope you enjoy!
